WIRELESS LINKS

Meta-sites

No list would be complete (and no wireless links list is quite so complete, including this one) without a major nod to the Personal Telco Project. If you want to learn more about how wireless works, open-networks, or theory, this is the place for you. They also have a wonderful map of open sites in the Portland area. Explore this site and you'll be a wiz in no time!
Personal Telco

Another fantastic source for information and links and News about wireless. Explore this place and read all you can. Most of this is concerned with people setting up networks that are an alternative to the internet, but much information can be gleaned here.
FreeNetworks.Org

News, information, links and more await on this site, which is a good jump off point to articles and websites of interest.

Mapping Sites (List Open Networks)

The most absolutely wonderful site for listing open AP's and networks. A small download will allow you to search whatever city you happen to be in and see all the mapped networks with closed nets, open nets and other details included. Remember this wonderful resource includes networks that may not expect you to be there, so use it with discretion.
Wigle Mapping Site

This is a nationwide list of people who run open APs for use by travellers and neighbors. It isn't absolutely comprehensive, but nothing is in wireless. The technology is so new that having several sites for mapping open networks is always a good idea.

More open networks. Several Hundred even. So get on here and start looking up the cities you'll be in and you should be on the net in no time.
